Loving Life with Jill

Meet Jill Allegretti - you can follow her @jilllas

Meet @jilllas! She lights up the room when she walks in and instantly makes you feel like family. She’s an amazing person and I cry every time I watch her beautiful engagement video on the last day of chemo. She reminds us that with positivity and love, we can get through anything!! I’m honored to share her story 💕

In February 2017 I was just kind of feeling around on my left breast when I felt a lump. I went for my annual appointment with my gynecologist and after feeling the lump herself, she wanted me to get a second opinion. I went for an ultrasound at 2 different doctors offices that told me, “not to worry, you just have dense breasts! It can’t be cancer you are so young.” I finally had a biopsy done after my 25th birthday and they told me I had stage 0 ductal carcinoma. I was getting ready for a lumpectomy until I switched hospitals to Sloan Kettering and they found that I was actually stage 1, after doing an MRI. I had no choice but to do a mastectomy. Because it had not spread I was looking at radiation after surgery. Unfortunately it turns out that it had spread to my lymph nodes and my diagnosis was actually stage 2a er/pr negative her2 positive breast cancer. I have had to do adjuvant chemotherapy (16 rounds) and I have radiation coming up in May to ensure my cancer does not return! Although this journey has been completely scary and has totally sucked, I have never felt more supported and empowered. My family and friends have been unbelievable, my now fiancé even proposed on my last day of chemo! I feel unstoppable and try to look at everything with a positive attitude.

My positivity has really helped to get me through all of this! I am so grateful that I have met some breasties along the same journey and think it is so beautiful how we all lift each other up. It is just such a breath of fresh air. When you feel like giving up, don’t, because I believe that ultimately cancer f**ing sucks, but life doesn’t 🙌🏻✨
