Saturn Return: What You Should Know
I posted about my Saturn Return earlier this week in my stories and my DM/s exploded with questions on what it means and how to find out your own. So I am going to break it down as best as I can, considering I am no astrologist.
Saturn Return
So the basics… It takes about 29.5 years for Saturn to fully orbit around the sun. So the Saturn Return is when the planet Saturn comes back to the same spot it was in your natal Saturn aka the same zodiac sign it was in when you were born. This usually happens in your mid-20’s to early 30’s. It’s a major wakeup call aka it shakes things up in your life and forces you to face the realness. Often times we make decisions in our youth and during our Saturn Return, some of these choices are revealed to be wayyy out of synch with our destiny.
Kinda like the idea that sometimes things have to fall apart so better things can come together?!
There is also a second Saturn Return that occurs in your mid-50’s and early 60’s and a third in your 80’s!
Saturn represents humanity’s boundaries between what is and what could be which is why our Saturn Return disrupts the path we are on and challenges us to head towards where we are meant to be. All the wrong turns and missed opportunities we have experienced in the first 20 years on this planet are brought to the surface and during our Saturn Return we are often forced to face them. It can seem pretty daughting or overwhelming but if we find the light in the darkness and focus on the lessons we have learned rather than on the mistakes, we can actually be really grateful for our Saturn Return.
I know this is all pretty woo woo sounding but a lot of my friends have experienced some major shifts during their Saturn Return - myself included - so I fully believe that this is true. Even though my Saturn Return technically hasn’t happened yet... According to my chart, mine isn’t set to happen until March 21 2020 – March 7 2023. I. CAN’T. WAIT. Seriously… I am excited.
I am not sure if a Saturn Return can begin a bit early. For me, it definitely feels as if it has. I know a lot of people believe that the Saturn Return lasts a few years and begins roughly at age 27. For me, this couldn’t be more true. For one, I always knew 27 was going to be a MAJOR year for me. It’s my golden year after all - I turned 27 on April 27th! There are a lot of things that have been shaken up in my life, but within the first few months of my 27th year - my boyfriend of four years and I broke up, I moved out of our apartment, and have experienced major career shifts (like leaving my career as a breaking news TV producer to launch a nonprofit and starting my own business)… if those aren’t all major shake ups then I don’t know what is?!
Anyways… knowing your Saturn sign can really help you navigate this transition and even help guide you toward what you’re meant to be doing or who you are meant to be.
If you are confused by this - let me break it down. If you are into Astrology, then you know we have our sun signs - basically the sign you associate yourself with and the one you probably go to when you read your horoscope. For example, I was born on April 27th so my sun sign is Taurus.
Well, in addition to your sun sign, you also have a moon sign (the house the moon was in when you were born) and your rising sign (the planetary influence which was rising, i.e. on the Eastern horizon, when you were born) These mean different things and all help you better understand your life and your personality.
If you are into all of this stuff, I highly recommend looking up your birth chart because that is how you can find out allll of your information when it comes to sun signs, moon signs, rising signs, and your Saturn sign! In fact, you need to look up your birth chart in order to find out what your Saturn sign is. Or you can use this chart that I found online:
Find your natal Saturn sign by looking up the date on or before your birthDate on the table below:
So for example, my birthdate is April 27th, 1992. If you look at the chart, you can see that Saturn entered Aquarius on Feb 6, 1991 and entered Pisces on May 21, 1993 so my Saturn Sign is Aquarius!
