REVISION SURGERY UPDATE: I THINK I FOUND MY SURGEON!
I just got back from the BEST doctors appointment I have ever had.
Not only do I think I found my surgeon for my revision surgery but she also said she is going to try to regenerate my nerves so I can get feeling back!! I am SO excited and so hopeful for my future!!
A few things I learned in my consultation and things I am excited about:
1. Even AFTER your mastectomy, there are techniques that can be done to regenerate your nerves to help increase sensation. This can be done during the switch from under the muscle (UTM) to over the muscle (OTM)!! You can even track how much sensation you have before the surgery and after so you can see how well it worked!
2. So many of my issues regarding my reconstruction are due to the fact that my implants are UTM and should look/feel much better if I decide to switch to OTM.
3. I got to feel all three different brands of implants and compare them for how they look and feel. I was blown away by how soft and natural @breastimplantsbymentor felt, so I was excited that she recommended those for my revision surgery.
4. Not only can she use the original scar from my mastectomy, she can even make sure that it is placed under my breast fold when she goes in for the revision surgery!
